THE CHURCH GATE

The gate was provided to replace an existing gate located between a 13th Century Church and the Rectory in the Chiltons.

The design was modelled on the previous gate but using 3 year air dried oak and the original metal fittings.  All joints were pinned with oak pegs and the gate posts shaped to match the original wall.

The gate has now weathered in with no displacement of the joints within the air dried oaks.  The wood has been allowed the weather down naturally with no preservative or coatings being used.
